We welcome student organizations, individual students, alumni, community members, and all those who love our great city to join the annual Big Event community cleanup. Organizations and students may sign up below once registration is available.

Homeowner in Need?

The mission of our Big Event cleanup is to benefit local homeowners in need of significant assistance with yard maintenance and outdoor restoration. If you are a neighboring homeowner of the university and believe you may qualify as a destination for Big Event volunteers, please register below.

SCHEDULE

Registration & Check-In

Volunteer students and organizations will need to register before the event using the link above. Check-in will begin the day of Big Event at 9 a.m. in Red Square.

Location Assignments

Location assignments will be given during check-in. Volunteers will be assigned one or several sites based on size of the organization and scheduled activity.

Tools, Supplies & Transportation

All necessary tools and supplies, including rakes, trash bags and gloves, will be provided by the SGA, as well as free breakfast. Volunteers are encouraged to bring extra gloves. Saferide services will be provided to volunteers who need transportation to sites.

Salisbury Residents

Yard Cleanup

Volunteers will be assigned to local Salisbury residents in need of raking, mulching and general yard cleanup throughout the city.

Trash Bags & Tool Return

Filled trash bags will be loaded onto vans by volunteers at each site for composting. Tools and gloves provided by the SGA will need to be returned to the Scarborough Student Leadership Center by volunteers after being dismissed.

Dismissal

Volunteers will be dismissed by the SGA members designated to each site. Volunteers may be asked to help students and organizations finish activities at other sites if ahead of schedule.

A long-time tradition at SU, the SGA hosts its annual neighborhood cleanup event by sending volunteers to residential neighbors of the university in need of mulching, raking and general outdoor restoration.
